About Joy
Joy Omega was born in Annapolis, Maryland, and she recently married Dr. Delwin Williams of Arlington, Texas where she now resides. The youngest of eight siblings, God told her mother this was her "Joy in the end", thus the name Joy Omega. "JoyBells," as she is fondly called, has been singing since she made her solo debut when she was five years old. In 1980, Joy was crowned Miss Gospel Music Workshop of America and has sung the National Anthem at Qualcomm Stadium before a San Diego Chargers football game. She was also once a member of a secular singing group comprised of five women called Finesse. She appears on television and radio and has sung backup vocals with Christian artist such as Ron Kenoly.
Joy has a 6-octave vocal range which has been described as effortless, breathtaking, and so powerful that most people are moved to tears and unrelenting praise to God. It has often been stated that her singing is "like the sound of angels." Local newspapers have acclaimed "her commanding voice that brings the audience to a standing applause." Although she has never had any vocal training, she has been asked on several occasions to train others to sing.
Joy is an anointed artist who God has blessed with many gifts. Joy reads and writes music, she plays piano, and sings country, pop, blues, jazz, opera, and, of course, black and contemporary gospel. Her talents are extremely versatile and not confined or limited to one particular style of music. Most people are in disbelief when they hear her powerful singing voice because, although she stands at approximately 6 feet tall, she has a slender physique.
Joy recently served the Lord as a founder, visionary, and director of DaySpring Ministries in Oceanside, California. DaySpring is a non-denominational and multi-ethnic ensemble committed to outreach. She was also the senior choir director for a mass choir called 3MC, a 100-voice choir comprised of singers from the Southern California cities of Oceanside, Vista, and Carlsbad.
Joy has a special love for people, and has been told whenever she smiles she lights up a room. Her goal and purpose in life is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, through song, to all races, creed, and religious groups around the world.
Joy has just completed her first video, featuring one of her favorite and most requested songs, "We shall behold Him", and has completed her first CD, which is available for purchase.
